Are you lacking in inspiration? Need to focus and achieve your goals? The answer is simple, stick on an 80?s soft rock classic, go to the desert and literally punch the crap out of rocks with your bare hands .. yeah man, that is how you do it!Ok, back to the topic, I wanted to give a shout out to vocalists all over the world, and to mention what too many singing teachers fail to mention, and what I am not scared to mention .. and that is ?air’? you need more air in your voice!Ok, so not earth shattering news, but stick with me ..Aside from the obvious tuning issues, it’s the vocal ?air’ (or lack of) that is a big diff Yamaha fg700s erence between average and world-class singers. Let me explain because even though I am simplifying the issue here, I am always amazed when a singer ?discovers’ what air can do to their vocals! When you sing you can either produce a sharp note or a rounded airy note. There is no right or wrong way but in my experience, only a handful of ?non air’ singers sound good. Typically the ?non air’ group will sound harsh when recorded and their vocals won’t sit in the mix as easily. Singers who project a lot of air when they sing tend to sound better live also.Justin Timberlake is a good example of someone who uses a LOT of air.
